Hello, I filed recently for a divorce and aiming for a clean break without spousal maintenance. I make around £40K per year and I am a main carer of two young children (split 65/35). My stbx stopped working right after signing the divorce papers (I have no explanation for that rather than as preparation for spouse maintenance battle). However, according to the latest letter from the Child M

Thanks David! I understand that. However, this level of income is only a limited time opportunity and can't be projected into the future. For the last two years I made £18K per year only, and after the current project I will be on a regular salary.

A question about earning capability. My wife and I have a court ordered shared care of our two children (the youngest is 3 yo). However, the children live with me 9 days every 2 weeks and 5 days with their mother. I'm their primary carer for nearly two years. As planned, I'm working now on a new project through a limited company. Small salary of £1K as a company director, everything else a

Thank you David. 1. Can my wife be made a shareholder as a part of settlement? 2. And if yes, it will be enforced after decree absolute, right? 3. If some old invoices will be paid between these two events, can I still withdraw dividends or do I have to share?

My wife and I have been separated for over 1.5 years. We haven't applied for divorce yet, but will do it soon. I think we will deal with financial settlement in about 9-12 months. I'm a self-employed software engineer. Right now I received a very attractive offer for a project which would last somewhere between 3-9 months. However, for this particular project I have to work through an

I can say the following based on my own experience. After separation, my wife moved in with her bf. I rented a place for myself and our two young children, so tenancy was in my name only. After ex came back and wanted to stay close to the children, I (being stupid enough) let her move in. At that time we were in the middle of the custody proceedings. Within two weeks the police was ca

>> domestic violence by wives against husbands is much more common and much more fierce. Exactly what I was told by the police. It was followed by the allegations of coercive control and emotional abuse, and then (her application for legal aid was unsuccessful) I was arrested on allegations of rape. >> This is one thing which bothers me a great deal about reporting in the

Definitely not sensible, and it might sound childish, but... There was domestic violence (toward me), falls allegations which led to my arrest etc., so I need some sort of closure before I can move on. I just wasn't sure that it's possible to take a spouse to the small claims court. I know that I won't get my money back, but CCJ would be enough.

Thank you for replying David. It's not the money but the principle. Would it be possible to take her to the small claim court while we are married?

Hello, I need some advice. When my wife decided to split up, she left in the middle of the night. On the way, she emptied my pockets - cash, credit and debit cards. Then, from an ATM around the corner, she withdrew as much cash as she could - around £2K. She admitted it in the messages, but refused to refund any money. The particular accounts are in my sole name. Is there anything I co
