I learned that one the hard way. I would contact the bank immediately and ask them to freeze the account as there is a dispute. The only disadvantage is that neither of you can do anything (close account, withdrew money etc) without the others permission. I would either do this or close it as it puts you at risk of going overdrawn which you both will be liable for.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I do hope to get this money back. My consent order doesn't mention the joint bank account, however, it does mention this; " the parties agree that neither of them has any legal or equitable interest in the property or assets currently in the sole name or possession of the other or owned by the other, and neither of them has any liability for the debts of

Thank you for your prompt reply David. Clearly I misread my solicitor's instructions.

Hello, I signed my statement of information and the consent order, then e-mailed both scanned documents to my solicitor as requested. I am a little worried the court will reject scanned copies. Will the court require the original signed documents or are copies acceptable? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your advice and opinion on the matter, Willapp. That is exactly what worries me, I am unable to do anything because it is a joint account. I just feel totally lost, I need the money to pay debt. The man is totally selfish and always has been. Knowing him, he has probably put it towards a Rolex watch. Hopefully, I can get a solicitor to pile on the pressure to pay it back or to

My husband has taken £5k from me too. It doesn't look very hopeful for me either. It's bloody frustrating!! I guess the only way to win out of a situation like this is to move on and be happy. Easier said than done but eventually we won't care anymore and will be in a much better place.

Thank you Puma. I have now closed the account but I am now unsure of what happens next. Can a solicitor apply pressure on him to pay me back do you think? Solicitors seem to have the gift to scare people. It's my bonus, he hasn't used the account in years, we are separated and don't live together. there must be something I can do to get that money back. I'm desperate!

How long does it take to get an absolute if the respondent has applied? I understand the petitioner can be next day but its a little more complicated when the respondent applies? Don't they have to sit a short hearing?

From reading your previous posts and now this, your ex sounds like a bully. I would call the police (non emergency) and arrange a police officer to go there with you to collect anything you need. I hope this nightmare of yours ends soon - and it will.

Hey Singlemum12! The reasons for a divorce doesn't matter in the eyes of the court. I believe its only serious cases where someone's life is at risk. If I was in your position, I'd just accept it and move on because it will be quicker and probably cheaper. I am the respondent in my divorce and it hasn't affected any decision making. But I am not a solicitor. All the best.

I am the wife and respondent in the divorce. Early this year a made an offer to my husband, and he recently made a counter offer which I accepted. I never considered the mortgage balance when I accepted his offer, can I re-negotiate with them while they are drafting the consent order? I also noticed an error on the figures after agreeing to their offer. It has been over 3 months since they re
