Living situation and divorce
singlemum12 - 11 January, 2018 11:54AM
Hi all

Could someone advise.. background... I am separated, 2 children, ex has locked me out of the marital home and need to be out of my parent's holiday let by end of March.

My parents have said they can 'lend' me a deposit for shared ownership accommodation (If i am approved) as there are some ready to move in to and it is a lot cheaper than privately renting .. whilst I am waiting for him to buy me out of the marital home (he at present refuses to discuss finances and will not do mediation, divorce proceedings have only just been issued and i suspect he will drag his feet).

My question is.. can he then claim for this as part of financial settlement, even if I was going to pay them back when he bought me out? Confused..

Thank you

If your parents lend you money they would be wise to take legal advice as to how they can protect that money in your divorce proceedings.
