Married in Malta. Not registered in uk

Hi all.
I was married in Malta and have never registered the marriage in the U.K.
I am now wanting a divorce and wondered how I go about doing it. We don't want to register the marriage in the U.K. For personal reasons
Not even sure if I'm legally married without registering it here or whether I need to travel back to Malta and divorce there.

And help from you guys would be great
Thanks
Richie

Well, in which country or countries do you and your wife live? How long have you lived there and how long have you been married? This additional information is necessary in order to answer your question.

We both live in U.K and are British. And have done all our lives
We've been married for 5 years now. We had a marriage abroad during a weeks holiday

Then you can have a divorce in the UK. It does not matter that you were married in Malta or that you have not 'registered' the marriage in the UK. If the marriage certificate is not in English then it will need to be formally translated but that is the only difference. Jurisdiction for divorce is primarily based upon domicile or residence rather than upon where you were married.
