ive passed the 7 working day notice of returning the acknowledgment form...what happens if I send form back late?

Not much. But your STBX may incur additional costs of instructing court bailiffs to serve you - which could end up being divorce costs you pay depending on the grounds of divorce.
You need to advise the other side of your oversight and advise that you will be sending off the acknowledgement of service back ASAP.
