Divorce costs.
kay001 - 24 February, 2017 04:35PM
Hello everyone,

I have filed a petition to divorce my husband, we agreed it would be amicable and he won't have to pay any costs.
I have applied for help with fees as I am on a low income and i have put the reference number on the divorce petition.
I also didn't tick the box in part 10.2 which says i claim the costs from the respondent.

However, my ex received the acknowledgement of service and there is a question that says: even if you don't intend to defend, do you agree to pay the costs? and state the reasons of why not? He wants to put NO and say we have agreed that the petitioner pays the full amount. Then if I am exempt , I won't have to pay, hopefully.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Well, why is what your husband wants to write not acceptable to you? It seems to reflect what you both want and have agreed.
