Question about costs
AdamBurgess1986 - 11 January, 2017 10:29AM
Good morning

I need some clarification on the issue of costs.

My wife filed for divorce last year, which was knowing, agreed and all tidy and amicable. She however was exempt from court fees and these were waived under the remission scheme. I'm confused by wording on the certificate of decree as it says I've agreed to pay costs.

She hasn't instructed lawyers and has had the court fee waived, so does this mean I'm not eligible to pay anything? Or does it mean because she's had the court fee waived, it's up to me to pay it?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Regards

If your wife did not instruct lawyers and she was exempt from paying the court fee there is nothing for you to pay.
