whats the best option when you have the greater pension pot. sharing or offsetting?

It really depends on what you value. I valued the substantial final salary scheme that I am a member of so came to an agreement with my ex that she would not touch that in return for me buying her out of our house and keeping it on so our children could continue to live with me (the alternative was that we would sell and I would move and they would have to go an live with her - which shows what she valued)

That only works if you have other assets that you can say something like "You have all of the savings in the bank and I will keep my pension" if you don't have anything to offset it against then sharing might be the only option.
